Araneae No 1-8
Spider webs, Black Spray paint, non reflective sheet glass, clear laquer, acrylic mounting, 35 x 35 x 3 cm

Spiders wait for their prey in invisible nets that they weave from spider silk. Silently they wait until they sense with their legs the vibrations that the captured insect creates, to jump forward and kill. Spiders are just one example of the many animals that actively experience and use vibrations for orientation, communication and hunting. The spider webs used for this project where all collected in and around the Swedish town Boda. They present intricate and strong structures crafted to transmit vibrations.
